Skilled application of Botox™ reversibly relaxes the muscle tissue which can prevent ageing associated with daily influences of life. It is applied around areas of the face where dermal collagen has weakened. These areas include the forehead, upper lip and around crows feet areas.

Dermal fillers are an excellent adjunct to Botox™ treatments and restore a smooth surface texture to deeply lined or fissured areas of the face.

The procedures are painless. Results can be noticed between 10-14 days producing a softening of the treated areas to a natural radiant appearance.

"I have a high pain threshold – and I’m not adverse to trying something new. So when Olivers introduced Dermaroller skin therapy to its Dental Studio – which also offers facial aesthetics – I decided to give it a go.

The treatment claims to regenerate skin as the thousands of micro-medical needle-columns penetrate into the dermis of the skin. This forces the skin to have to repair itself, and in doing so, new collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and the blood supply is enhanced, giving a fresher appearance.

Claire Crothers, a dentist at the practice who has worked there for eight years, advised the treatment can significantly reduce the appearance of acne scars, aged and sun damaged skin, facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles and stretch marks. She said: “It stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.”

The treatment lasts about an hour, half of which was spent waiting for the anaesthetic Claire gave me to numb my gums. After that it’s quick and easy. Claire rolled the dermaroller in different directions on my forehead, cheeks and around my mouth and chin area applying light pressure. I felt a bearable, prickly sensation on my skin, but that was it. It’s not as bad as it looks.

My skin bled slightly, mostly on my forehead, and my face was left red after the procedure – I looked slightly sunburnt. But I was given moisturiser to use and a SPF 50 cream and was told my face would feel a little tight the next day. I was also advised not to wear make-up for 24 hours.

My face ached for a few hours after the treatment and felt a little dry for two days after, but this was easily remedied with the moisturiser. The results aren’t immediate and it can take up to six weeks before visible signs of skin regeneration start to show. After around four weeks, my face looked fresher, I had tighter skin and I looked more radiant.

Six weeks into the treatment and my skin tone and texture had improved greatly."
